Police say they responded to an “active incident” at the Mall of America in Minnesota.
The mall is on lockdown due to a confirmed single incident in a tenant space, according to a tweet from mall officials.
People inside the mall have been asked to stay at the nearest safe location until the lockdown is lifted by authorities,
“The Mall of America is currently on lockdown. There is a confirmed single tenant incident. Please remain in the nearest safe location until the lockdown is lifted. Stay tuned for additional updates,” they tweeted.
The mall, the largest in the United States, is located in Bloomington, Minnesota and features more than 520 retail stores and 50 restaurants, as well as an indoor theme park and aquarium.
“We are currently working on an active incident inside the Mall of America on the northwest side. There are many police officers at the scene. We will update when we have more information,” the Bloomington Police Department tweeted.
