Apple has finally created a solution to the speaker problems faced by owners of the expensive Studio Display.

Since its release in March, the Studio Monitor has experienced audio issues ranging from sound distortion or playing too fast to simply stopping. As reports MacRumors(Opens in a new window)Apple confirmed the problem in a note to its authorized service providers a few days ago, which also said it was a software problem, not hardware related.

Sure enough, a firmware update is now out that “fixes an audio issue with Studio Display,” according to release notes(Opens in a new window). The firmware update is still classified as version 15.5, just like the one released two months ago, but this latest version uses the build number 19F80.

The latest firmware can be installed on a Studio monitor by connecting it to a Mac and then navigating to Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update. If the firmware is available to you, click “Update Now” and the download will begin. Once complete, click “Restart” on the notification that appears and the installation process will begin. If all goes according to plan, all these audio problems should be a thing of the past.
