There’s just been another report on what the next Apple Watch will look like. Over the past 18 months, there have been rumors, picked up by many reputable analysts, that an all-new Apple Watch design was coming, with flat edges, a bigger screen and a look that was truly different.

The problem is that those rumors were about the Apple Watch Series 7, and while the current watch has a slightly changed design, it was nowhere near what the leaks led us to expect.

While some analysts had a lot of egg on their face, one hacker, @VNchocoTacoalso known as ShrimpApplePro, had claimed that the rumored plans were completely false.

This hacker revealed today what they think is coming with the Apple Watch Series 8.

Plan

Although they tweeted in May that a new flat front glass display was on the cards, they are now specific about the new design, saying: “Design: unfortunately remains the same as the 7 series without any design improvements.”

That doesn’t mean there won’t be some change to the long-awaited Apple Watch Pro, which Mark Gurman at Bloomberg claims will be a larger device with an evolution of the current design.

But for the Series 8, the design won’t change, it seems. I like the design of the 7 series so I’m not disappointed.

But ShrimpApplePro also has more information, such as colors.

Colored

In aluminium, the 8 Series will be available in four colours, Midnight, Starlight, PRODUCT(RED) and Silver. This is a big change from the Series 7, which is available in Midnight, Starlight, PRODUCT(RED), blue and a rather striking green. But many customers complained that there was no neutral color like silver, although in my opinion Starlight is the best of the new shades anyway. Even so, I’m slightly surprised that Apple would go from five colors to four.

For the stainless steel watch, we can’t expect any change in colors, with silver, graphite and gold as of now. This is also the same as the Series 6 colors, so again I’m wary of what ShrimpApplePro says, as it looks like there could be a subtle change this time around.

Note that even when Apple sticks to the same colors, they almost always change slightly with each successive year, so gold stainless steel one year can be quite pale, the next quite yellow.

Size

Like this year, there will be two sizes, 41mm and 45mm—although the rumored Apple Watch Pro could be larger, ShrimpApplePro isn’t commenting on that. The Series 8 watch will be backward compatible with previous watch bands, something Apple has prioritized over the years.

Titanium?

There won’t be an Apple Watch Edition in titanium, it’s claimed, although since Mark Gurman claimed the Pro model might be titanium, that could be the reason.

Sensors

The expected temperature sensor may not be there as claimed, as the source could not see any visual indication of new sensors. Although that doesn’t mean it’s not there, just that it’s not visible.

Nothing else?

Two little nuggets, actually. First, the box seal will have a stronger adhesive, so once opened it’s harder to reseal, which seems like a smart security feature to me.

And secondly, it looks like the Watch is on track for a September launch, barring any delays. Ask.

With Apple’s next special event expected to take place in the first fortnight of September, there isn’t much time to wait.
