Elon Musk has confirmed that he has nine children with three wives and would rather “civilization go out with a bang than a whimper and adult diapers”.
Talking about The Full Send podcast released Thursday, Musk was asked how many children he has and said he has nine offspring with three wives. One of the hosts mentioned that he had met the Musk twins, who are now in college, their father said.
The world’s richest man said the biggest threat facing the world was falling birth rates and claimed overpopulation was a myth.
“Population isn’t growing. Lifespans are growing. People are living longer. That’s the only reason the population on earth hasn’t plummeted, but it’s going to plummet,” Musk said.
However, the United Nations the world population was expected to increase by 2 billion over the next 30 years, from 7.7 billion to 9.7 billion by 2050.
Musk added: “One thing to watch is the ratio of adult diapers to baby diapers. At what point does the country have more adult diapers than baby diapers?” He said sales of adult diapers in Japan have surpassed those for babies since 2011.
Musk has long shared his concerns about the declining birth rate. SpaceX CEO wants to put humans on a Mars settlement. He previously said on a podcast that SpaceX will put people on the planet on its Starship rockets in five to 10 years.
However, he claimed that there would not be enough people to move to Mars if the population crisis continued.
In this week’s podcast, Musk says civilization will die with a whimper and adult diapers: “That’s not crap, it’s like an anticlimactic. Honestly, if given the choice, I’d rather civilization go away with a bang whining and adult diapers.”
In July, Insider reported that the tech mogul fathered twins last November with one of his top executives at Neuralink, Shivon Zilis, according to court documents.
Musk is worth about $264 billion, per Forbes. He owns four companies: electric vehicle maker Tesla, spacecraft maker SpaceX, tunnel-building startup The Boring Company, and brain-machine-interface implant company Neuralink.
