Elon Musk challenged Twitter to a debate and suggested his deal to buy the social media giant could go through if the company offered more verification and transparency.
The CEO of Tesla he tweeted early on Saturday, in response to a thread by a user who identified himself as a “SpaceX fan”: “If Twitter just provides the method of sampling 100 accounts and how to verify they’re real, the deal should go ahead with the original terms. However, if it turns out that their SEC filings are materially false, then they shouldn’t.”

Musk and Twitter spent most of 2022 engaged in negotiations, arguments and legal battles surrounding the SpaceX CEO’s offer to buy the platform for $44 billion.
The billionaire agreed to the deal, then terminated it and later sued Twitter to complete the sale. He fought back, Twitter responded, and Saturday’s tweet from Mr. Musk marked the latest development in the ongoing dispute.
Musk also posted a poll to his 102.8 million Twitter followers asking them to vote on whether “Less than 5% of daily Twitter users are fake/spam” – giving them the option to choose “Yes” or “Lmao no.”
