  • The son came to McDonald’s and shot Matthew Webb in the face outside the establishment.

A McDonald’s employee in New York City has died days after the son of a disgruntled customer shot him in the face because the fries he got were cold, local news reports said.

The man, 23-year-old Matthew Webb, was shot Monday at a Brooklyn McDonald’s. Webb died Wednesday, the New York Police Department said, adding that it is now investigating the case as a homicide.

Police said Michael Morgan, 20, entered the McDonald’s and confronted Webb, who was working behind the counter on Monday. Morgan’s mother had complained to Webb that she had received cold fries. She then called Morgan and complained to him, police said.

Morgan then shot Webb outside, according to the NYPD. He then gave his gun to his girlfriend and ran away.

When police brought Morgan to the station and questioned him, he also confessed to an unrelated homicide from 2020, The New York Daily News mentionted. Morgan told police he killed a man in Brooklyn in October 2020.

Morgan confessed to killing 28-year-old Kevin Hollomon outside an apartment building. Police said Holloman suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Daily News.

For Monday’s incident, Morgan faces a charge of attempted murder, as well as criminal possession of a weapon, ABC7 mentionted.

For the 2020 murder, he is facing a charge of murder, according to ABC7.

The two murders occurred within blocks of each other.

“For a while, we were trying to make an arrest and get this guy off the street,” an unnamed police source told the Daily News. “The guy should be behind bars, in jail.”

Webb’s death is just the latest in a string of violent acts against fast food workers.

In April, a Queens man shot a delivery man who was leaving an order. Earlier this year in January, a 19-year-old working at a Burger King in Harlem was shot during a robbery.
