Anne Heche was in the hospital Saturday after an accident in which her car crashed into a house and burst into flames, a representative for the actress told People magazine.

The spokesman, who was not named, told the magazine that Hetse was in stable condition a day after Friday’s accident. Her family and friends have asked that her privacy be respected, People reported.

Her speeding car reached a T-intersection and veered off the road into a home in the Mar Vista section of West Los Angeles just before 11 a.m. Friday, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im said. .

The car came to rest inside the two-story home and started a fire that took nearly 60 firefighters more than an hour to extinguish, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. Officials have not identified Hetse as the driver who was pulled from the car while inside the home, but said it was registered to her.

Television news footage showed a blue Mini Cooper Clubman, badly damaged and burned, being towed outside the house, with a blonde woman sitting on a stretcher and struggling as firefighters put her into an ambulance.

No other injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made. Police detectives are investigating.

Its representatives did not immediately respond Saturday to requests for comment.

A native of Ohio, Heche first rose to fame on the NBC soap opera “Another World” from 1987 to 1991. She won a Daytime Emmy Award for the role.

In the late 1990s she became one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, consistently on magazine covers and in big budget movies. Her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000 increased her fame and brought enormous public scrutiny.

In the fall of 2000 shortly after the two broke up, Heche was hospitalized after knocking on a stranger’s door in a rural area near Fresno, California. Authorities said she appeared agitated and disoriented and spoke incoherently to residents.

In a memoir released the following year, Call Me Crazy, Heche opened up about her lifelong struggles with mental health and childhood abuse.

She was married to camera operator Coleman Laffoon from 2001 to 2009. The two had a son together. She had another son during a relationship with actor James Tapper, her co-star in the TV series ‘Men In Trees’.

Heche has worked steadily in smaller films, on Broadway and in television shows over the past two decades. She recently had recurring roles on the network’s “Chicago PD” and “All Rise,” and in 2020 was a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars.”
