On Friday on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) blasted Vice President Kamala Harris for her double standard of justice toward WNBA player Britney Griner.

Griner was sentenced to nine years in Russia for violating Russian drug laws after being caught in possession of cannabis vapor cartridges.

Gabbard compared Harris’s remarks calling for Griner’s release to when he was California’s attorney general and prosecuted and jailed those accused of possessing marijuana.

“[A]Another note of hypocrisy coming from Kamala Harris and this administration, as you mentioned, is how, during her illustrious history as California Attorney General, you set some of these examples,” Gabbard said. “He kept prisoners in prison beyond their sentences to use them as free slave labour. Yet at the same time, these same people condemn other countries for doing the exact same thing. It is meaningless.”

“What struck me when I saw Kamala Harris’ tweet and her statement expressing this outrage about Brittney Griner, first of all, let me say that I don’t think anyone anywhere in the world should be incarcerated for possession of marijuana,” he continued. . . “Period. Period. When you see Kamala Harris’ statement on Twitter, she’s expressing this anger about Brittney Griner. My question to her and the Biden administration is, where is your anger for your fellow Americans who are sitting in prison today here in the United States of America because of minor marijuana violations?’

“How come you don’t fight as hard for them to go home and be reunited with their families as you did for Brittney Griner?” Gabbard added. “And for me, the message to the American people through his actions is loud and clear. It is that if you are rich and powerful or famous then you will get special treatment from this administration. If you’re not, we don’t care about you and we’re going to let you sit there and rot in jail.”
