After helping his team record a 20 win over newly promoted Forest, Saint Maximin was in generous spirits as he handed a Rolex to a Newcastle fan holding a French flag with the winger’s name and number.

The fan, Steve Duttonwho was at the receiving end of the Saint’s kind gesture Maximin he said on Twitter: “I was the person I was gifted the watch from ASM. I was completely speechless. I thought he was coming to sign autographs and take pictures with the kids. I’m still in shock, can’t thank @saintmaximin enough.”

It was not the first time that St Maximin gifted a watch to a fan, he did the exact same thing in December 2021.

The fan, Michael Urwin talk to Chronicle Live after receiving the gift from Saint Maximin.

He said: “He got out of his car and came over to where I was standing and handed me a box and said ‘This is for you’. I was shaking, to be honest with you, but he was quite excited and just saying ‘Open it, open it !”

Since his arrival in St. James Park, Saint Maximin he has been a fan favorite as his dazzling skills and blistering speed captured the hearts of the Newcastle faithful.

He was decisive once again during the game against Forest, giving Steve Cooper’s defense a hard time, especially right back Neco Williams, who struggled to cope with the sheer speed of the French winger.

Fabian Schar’s stunning effort from distance gave Eddie Howe’s side the lead in the 58th minute, Forest putting in a brave display as they looked for an equaliser. However, a goal in the 78th minute by Callum Wilson ensured all three points remained at St James’ Park.

There is renewed optimism among Newcastle fans after a strong display towards the end of last season.

After spending a lot of money on people like Nick Pope, Sven Boatman and Matt Targettfans are expecting a first half as a minimum, with some hoping the team can push for a place in European football.

Howe hinted that the club’s transfer window may not be over, he said: “I love the people we’ve got but I’d like to add a bit more quality to it if possible.”

Next Saturday for Newcastle will be Brighton.
