We’re about two weeks away from the release of Season 18, and there really isn’t that much to do in Destiny 2 right now other than the Solstice grind, which… I honestly wouldn’t recommend getting that deep into. But one good thing about the way Destiny 2 is set up now, you can work on long-term goals like crafting at the same time as doing a lot of other things.

We know Arc 3.0 is coming, and while we don’t really know anything about it other than a generalized focus on “speed,” it’s a safe bet that having quality arc-based weapons is a good idea. And there’s a number you can build and think about maxing out before Season 18 comes out. Here are my picks:

1. Sweet Sorrow (Stats for All/One for All) – This is a Risen auto rifle that feels completely insane with the SFA/OFA combo, and that’s assuming we’ll get some sort of weapon handling/reloading boosts from Arc 3.0 itself. This is one of my favorite cars in recent memory, and I can already tell it will be getting a lot of use next season.

Where to grow patterns: PsiOps Battlegrounds from Season of the Risen, weekly frame focusing on HELM with an upgrade.

2. Whisper of Nezerec (Boost Booster/Frenzy) – It’s the only legendary arc glaive in the game right now, and glaives are extremely powerful, no matter what the hive mind might tell you. This is probably my favorite roll in it, though since I had it in The Enigma as well, I gave myself a grenade-only Demolitionist/Adrenaline Junkie, which again, will probably be fun for Arc 3.0.

Where to grow patterns: Nightmare Containment/Sever in Season of the Haunted, weekly HELM focus with upgrade.

3. Insidious (One for All/Dragonfly) – Yes, a few on this list are from Vow of the Disciple and this thing can hit like a truck with One for All active, which you can activate from Dragonfly, one of the only combos like this in the entire game. There are plenty of other good rolls if that’s a bit out there for you (I also have a Rapid Hit/Adrenaline Junkie), but it’s a top pulse that feels great in most situations.

Where to grow patterns: Vow of the Disciple raid, weekly frame available on first clearance.

4. Tolerance (ambitious killer/chain reaction) – You can’t leave out one of the best weapon clearing weapons in the game, the only GL wave frame that can roll Chain Reaction. Again, it’s from Vow, but there are few things out there that deserve more time, as this is one of the best PvE offerings in Destiny history.

Where to grow patterns: Vow of the Disciple raid, weekly frame available on first clearance.

5. Edge of Competition (Hunter Exotic) – There are only two more legendary bow weapons you can build, but I’m not going to recommend the bad auto or the bad GL from the Witch Queen collection. Instead, I think you might want to watch Edge of Concurrence, since it just got one bulky damage buff last season, and his exotic advantage can kill huge groups of enemies now with his wave lightning. If any exotic has a chance to work with Arc 3.0 triggers, I feel like it might be this one, even if I still wish Bungie would rework the functionality of all three of these glaives.

Where to grow pattern: A zillion Wellspring runs, though you only need a single pattern to drop. You don’t need to run it in Hunter.

These are my picks. Lots of good slot 1 weapons to get, but I wanted to stick with the bow theme here for now. I’m open to suggestions on anything you think I may have missed.
