After the match, Klopp praised Fulham’s performance and admitted that his side were far inferior.

“The best thing in the game is the result,” Klopp told BT Sport after full-time.

“A very bad game. How can this happen? The attitude was not right at the beginning.

“We tried to react after 15 minutes. The pitch was dry, things like that. Really difficult.”

Klopp has developed a reputation for making excuses for his Liverpool team after poor results.

The German was mocked by rival fans on social media following his latest comments and Fulham have now turned the tables.

The west London club tweeted a picture of several sprinklers watering the pitch at their home ground, alongside the caption: “The Craven Cottage pitch looked absolutely green yesterday,” followed by the water emoji.

Fulham’s cheeky tweet has been a hit with supporters on social media.

“Hahahahaha yeah it wasn’t too dry guys,” one fan tweeted.

Another added: “10/10 tweet this.”

Fulham will be hoping to continue their impressive start to the season when they face Wolves away on Saturday.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will look to bounce back when they host Crystal Palace next Monday.
