The Paris Saint-Germain star produced another moment of magic on Saturday as his side crushed Clermont Foot in the opening game of the new Ligue 1 season.
It wasn’t just PSG fans who were delighted by the Argentine’s overall performance.
After he scored his stunning acrobatic goal late on, home fans Clermont Foot applauded the striker and chanted his name in the stands.
Others bowed to Messi as a sign of respect for the Argentina international.
The goal has also drawn huge praise on social media.
“You can’t look at this incredible little man and not think he’s THE KING,” wrote one fan on Twitter.

Messi only managed six goals in Ligue 1 last season, but it already looks like he will have a much more successful season in his second year in France.
He will be hoping to continue his excellent form when PSG return to action against Montpellier on Saturday.
