Predictions for the World Junior Championship 2022 – Enrich of Tech Updates Across the World

The winner of the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship will be either Canada or Sweden, according to two NHL.com writers.

NHL.com Associate Director Adam Kimelman believes Canada will win after reaching the 2021 WJC championship, while NHL.com staff writer Mike G. Morreale predicts Sweden will win the tournament for the first time since in 2012.

In the championship game, Kimmelman predicts Canada will beat Sweden, while Morreal thinks Sweden will top the United States, the 2021 champion.

Each writer also made their pick for the best goaltender, best forward, best defenseman and top prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft.

The 2022 WJC will be held August 9-20 at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The tournament was originally scheduled for December 26 to January 5, but was canceled after four days due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus. Results from these games will not be included when the tournament restarts.

The 10 teams will play in two groups. Group A consists of Canada, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Latvia and the United States, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

Latvia has been added to the tournament to replace Russia, which has been banned from international competition due to its invasion of Ukraine.

The top four in each group will play in the quarter-finals on August 17. The semi-finals are on August 19 and the championship and third place match is on August 20.

All games will be broadcast live on NHL Network in the United States and on TSN and RDS in Canada.
