Barrasso: Biden must show “backbone” on world stage to prevent Chinese aggression
Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) said Thursday on FNC’s “America Reports” that President Joe Biden needs to show “backbone” on the world stage to help defend Taiwan from Chinese aggression.
Barrasso said: “When China or Putin or whoever sees weakness, they go for it. And that’s exactly what happened here. The president needs to show some backbone internationally, and it needs to be a few things. China is watching. They are watching very closely what is happening with Russia and Ukraine. We must ensure that Ukraine has all the weapons it needs to defeat Russia. And then the next thing is they’re looking at what weapons Taiwan might have. The United States must commit to ensuring that Taiwan has the weapons it needs to defend itself. I’m on all the secret updates and know exactly what’s going on there now. We must ensure that we want to prevent, not provoke, war. And the way to do that is to make Taiwan a nightmare. It will be painful if China goes after them.”
Barrasso added: “The world is becoming more and more dangerous. We need to make sure that Taiwan has what it takes in terms of anti-aircraft to prevent anything from China. This will take some time. What is happening now on the floor of the United States Senate is massive taxing and spending by the Democrats.”
