NEW YORK — A bus full of mostly single adult immigrants arrived at the New York Port Authority from Texas on Friday morning — where they were greeted by volunteers handing out burritos — as Gov. Greg Abbott (R) continues to crack down on record numbers of border crossings and of illegal aliens arriving in his state in “sanctuary cities” run by Democrats.
New York City officials appeared unprepared for the arrival of the migrants, or at least lacked communication and coordination to welcome them, as the Port Authority did not initially have a gate to park the bus and Port Authority officials were unaware of the plan for the arrival . The bus circled between 8th and 9th avenues Friday morning until it was finally able to park at Gate 14 at about 7:30am.
“Due to President Biden’s continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open border policies, the State of Texas has had to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe,” Governor Abbott said in a statement.
“In addition to Washington, DC, New York City is the ideal destination for these immigrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams touted in the sanctuary city,” Abbott said. “I hope he keeps his promise to welcome all immigrants with open arms so that our border towns can find relief.”
When the bus arrived, Breitbart News saw passengers disembarking after a 3-day trip from Texas, greeted by a handful of volunteers. A volunteer was wearing a “NYC Immigration Services” T-shirt, but no city employees appeared to be present.
Greeters handed the migrants a bag bearing the logo of the humanitarian aid organization Save the Children. However, it appeared that there were less than 10 children in the group and no more than 5 women. The rest of the 60 passengers on the bus were single men between the ages of 20 and 40.
The volunteers led the group through the Port Authority, gathered them at the bus station entrance and handed out burritos. Some migrants were given rides to other locations, but it was unclear where.

One migrant, a man who said his name was Alfonso and who arrived alone, told Breitbart News that he traveled from Venezuela through Mexico to Texas, where he was put directly on a bus to New York.
He left his wife and children in Chile and explained that he came to America alone first and planned to bring them later. He has no family or connections in the United States and does not speak English. It came with a bag containing some toiletries and a pillow, and was worth US$130.
Alfonzo told Breitbart News that now was a good “opportunity” to come to the United States, explaining that he did not believe he would be accepted under former President Trump’s administration, specifically citing the wall along the southern border as a barrier to entry. . He said locals in Mexico accepted money to steer him to the border.
Alfonzo said he was looking for work, but had never been to New York or the United States. He had nowhere to stay and was not told about accommodation services or resources.
Despite Democratic officials’ support of illegal immigration through their expansive sanctuary policies, which protect illegal aliens from arrest and deportation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), few have warned that busloads of immigrants from Texas will flood the public resources of their city.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D), for example, has pleaded with Biden for “immediate additional federal resources” to address the rise in illegal immigration. In another statement, Adams told New Yorkers to “happen” to their city’s overrun by border crossers and illegal aliens who are arriving and straining infrastructure, hospitals, schools and neighborhoods.
“Everybody’s block is going to be affected by it,” Adams said. “And so we must supplement our advocacy with our ability to help our neighbors. We all need it together.”
“…our schools will be affected, our health system will be affected, our infrastructure will be affected,” he continued.
Adams’ office claims that sending the busloads of immigrants to New York is akin to using border and illegal aliens “as political pawns.” calling the policy “disgusting.”
Governor Abbott has extended a public invitation to Mayor Adams to visit the southern border, insisting that the “sanctuary city” mayor is witnessing “the magnitude of the chaos created by Biden’s open border policies.”
“I wish they would [visit] because public servants across the country need to realize the extent of the chaos created by Biden’s open border policies,” Abbott said on Fox News on Thursday.
“Do they have the weapons for a few thousand people coming into their communities in the last few months? Listen, in any field in the state of Texas, we have more than 5,000 people in that field every day,” Abbott continued.
Similarly, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser called on National Guard troops last month to deal with what she called a “humanitarian crisis” with just over 6,000 migrants bussed into the capital from Texas since April.

Bowser, a staunch supporter of the region’s sanctuary city policy, claimed the busloads of immigrants were a “tipping point” for Washington, even though they pale in comparison to the level of illegal immigration America’s border cities are forced to deal with. Biden administration.
In Texas border cities alone, nearly 130,000 border crossers and illegal aliens were caught crossing the border in June. More recently, in the small town of Normandy, Texas — with a population of just 29 — about 400 border crossers and illegal aliens have passed through the area this month.
