Dele Alli trolled hard by Sky Sports in Everton vs Chelsea substitution

Alli replaced Dwight McNeill on the hour mark in the Premier League opener at Goodison Park on Saturday.

McNeill, who made his debut on the pitch following his move from Burnley, failed to get going – with Sky Sports website Sky Score Center cheekily reviewing his performance.

In doing so, they also mercilessly taunted Ali in a savage fight coverage.

He says: “McNeil’s rather impressive debut comes to an end. Speaking of subdued, Dele Alli is on.”

Just like McNeil, Alli was unable to make an impact on the match as his side lost 1-0 to Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The 26-year-old has not hit the ground running since his switch from Tottenham.

Speaking ahead of Everton’s clash with Chelsea, Frank Lampard said he hopes “support” and “tough love” can get the midfielder back to his best.

“It is possible to work with him to become a scorer,” he told reporters. “He has the instinct to get into goalscoring positions and we have to find ways to get him into those positions and probably get his confidence back as well. That’s why I brought him to the club.

“We all knew the position [at Spurs]. At the same time, we also knew if we could get him into the sweet spot where he was, then he would be a big asset for us. It is clear on many levels for everyone this season and certainly for Dele.

“He has worked hard in pre-season and will be a very useful player for us if he continues to apply himself in the right way.

“I think sometimes it’s support and sometimes it’s tough love. Sometimes you have to listen to serious things to get the best out of yourself. Dele or any player.”
