A fourth set of human remains has turned up in Lake Mead, which straddles the border of Arizona and Nevada, as its waters continue to recede.

The National Park Service announced Saturday that the remains — the fourth such discovery since May — were found in the Swim Beach area. CNN mentionted. NPS did not immediately return a request for comment Sunday from The independent.

Bodies on the surface have created a huge buzz in the area since the first remains were found on May 1 in the drought-depleted lake.

Boaters enjoying Lake Mead first discovered human remains in a barrel on May 1 near Hemenway Harbor on the reservoir on the Colorado River.

Water levels had fallen so far that Lake Mead’s peak water intake was seen in late April as the American West continued to suffer from a two-decade drought exacerbated by the climate crisis.

The reservoir on the Colorado River behind Hoover Dam was so depleted that Las Vegas began drawing water from deeper Lake Mead, which also extends into Arizona.

As the lake disappears, some of its secrets have been revealed – literally. Some of them could potentially solve long-standing mob mysteries, according to many organized crime insiders.

“This topic is on everyone’s lips in this city,” said Geoffrey Schumacher, vice president of exhibits and programs at the Las Vegas Mob Museum. The independent earlier this year. “Everywhere I go – especially me – people want to talk about it and speculate about it.

“There’s something about solving an old mystery that appeals to people. And it hearkens back to what some people think back to a golden age for Las Vegas: ‘When the mob ran it,’ that’s what they say… It combines nostalgia with the desire to solve a mystery and it’s on everyone’s mind here.” says.

The body in the barrel, which police ruled a homicide victim, bears the hallmarks of a mob hit, the museum’s vice president said.

Two other sets of remains, not counting this month’s discovery, have also been discovered.

The Park Service told CNN that rangers have set up a perimeter at the current site to recover the remains with the help of divers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and a medical examiner was working to determine the cause of death.
